These Six Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (July 19 - August 1)

Celeste's great and all but it's already been on the service and gmg before.

There’s several day one games in that group, including The Wondering Village, which is supposed to be excellent. I honestly don’t think it’s a bad batch of games if you don’t mind indies.

And remember that GP is really going to be picking up the rest of the year with this just being a partial list of things to come:

With all the name changes going on, they should changed it to indie pass ultimate and been done with it. Some people like indie games and that's cool. But if I want to play an 8 bit, side scrolling platformer, jumping over lava pits, I'd just bring out my game boy color.

@RingOfLite666 Up until few weeks ago I would defended Phil Spencer. But after the price gouge to eliminate Xbox live only to shove game pass down our throats, I'm beyond disgusted.

Where are the 12 month deals going to be available? I enjoyed buying 12 months of Gold on sale for $40-$50.

Not a bad list. Can anyone confirm whether Serious Sam Siberian Mayhem runs better than Serious Sam 4? I wanted to enjoy that but damn, it played hard with my eyes.

Everybody play Celeste if you haven't already. One of the best modern 2D platformers going.

Microsoft promote Game Pass heavily yet their current output is a joke compared to PS Plus.

@RingOfLite666 Almost everything on PS Plus Premium is already on GamePass. They may be AAA games but they’re old AAA games I already have. So it does nothing good for me.

If you can't put up with 30 fps then stop watching movies and tv shows. They are 24 fps.

Sony Playstation Plus can brag about getting a 3 yr old Call of Duty, when Microsoft Gamepass is about to get every Call of Duty, and have Day One releases of Call of Duty every year on Gamepass.

After I'm done playing Final Fantasy VI pixel remaster on the switch will jump back on the xbox. Hoping for AEW fight forever to hit the service or get heavily discounted. Will scratch my arcade wrestling itch.

It's actually 1,406 games if you include Antstream Arcade on 21st July... Haha!

You've played Venba and the Wandering Village? No? 3 yrs ago and even longer for Alan Wake I've played both of Playstations games. Also Starfield could 100% run at 60 fps or higher, but they are going to a cinematic approach. Also Microsoft delayed Starfield from releasing for 2 yrs to make sure it's not a typical buggy Bethesda game. Also ID helped Bethesda with Starfield and I must say ID makes so exceptional games. So instead of sounding like all you care about is Call of Duty games and big budgeted loud AAA dude bro games how about you relax and try out the occasional indie game you may like them.

The Wandering Village and Venba are coming out for the Playstation as well. The difference is if you wanted to try them you would have to pay full price to see if you even liked them.

Venba and Wandering Village both are indie games, but generic would not be a term to use for either game. Only from someone who hasn't looked into either game because they are afraid of an artistic indie title.

It's not Todd Howard's excuse, just close to every movie director also prefers to use lower framerates, below 30 even for a cinematic approach. Not every game benefits from being 120 fps.

Alan Wake is still not an indie which seems to be your only qualifier for what you consider not a waste of time. Which makes me sad for you

@RingOfLite666 sorry, but the "indie games are trash and not as good as AAA games" arguement is nonsensical. There are so, so, SO many indie games that wipe the floor with the majority of AAA releases in terms of gameplay, creativity, inventiveness, artistic prowess and how well they run.

Really? So by your definition, indie games automatically lose to AAA? I assume the likes of Stardew Valley and Moonlighter are beneath you? They're just off the top of my head. That's a shame. You're missing out on some of the best experiences in gaming by gating away indies by default.

You also understand that The Witcher 3 is technically an indie game?... load of rubbish? Or are we going to move the goalposts now?

If I were you, I'd seriously consider enlarging your outlook. Now as for you bringing up 30fps for Starfield, this has been covered extensively by both MS and Bethesda. It was a creative decision, not a technical decision.

Rather than just assume that 30fps is a bad thing, @RingOfLite666 & @Dan1283. Perhaps you should look into why it is 30fps. It's not just about the graphics. It's also about item persistence (so if you place an item somewhere it will still be there 100 hours further into the game). Don't ask me why that cannot be achieved at 60fps, but I have to assume that the developers understand far better. It's also about lighting, and the sheer scale of the game.

@RingOfLite666 that game is shocking I agree Microsoft should never have let it be released I do thing people are making excuses up to why starfield isn't 60 fps its just bad management I have both an xbox series x and a ps5 and I aren't a fanboy either way I just want Microsoft to compete with Sony releasing finished games great 1st party exclusives that's all

Here's the beauty of gamepass, when Starfield comes out I'm out no additional money to install it and verify if it is indeed a great game or a sluggish bug ridden mess.

@ZuneTattooGuy this is indeed the beauty of the service. In the past few weeks I've tried out Prey, Wasteland 3 and NFS Unbound, all on GP. Didn't like them. No harm, no foul. They're there for the people who do like them. Conversely, I also tried out Shadow Warrior 3. Loved it; smashed it out in three sessions.

Looking forward to Celeste and Serious Sam..

@Bmartin001 Celeste is a fantastic game. Vibrant visuals, poignant story and pixel-perfect platforming with interesting new mechanics introduced in each area. It's hard, but it does have difficulty options to alleviate that if you're not into that sort of thing and just want to enjoy the game.

This chat blew up over games coming to a subscription service. I'll just go back to playing some awesome games in my spare time and enjoy life. Happy gaming everyone

PlayStation Plus has been giving out better games lately. I think GamePass is way overrated

This is not the most attractive release list Ive seen on gp, but I believe the wandering village could be a fine game and celeste is also well worth a play.
I suspect this is the calm before the storm, and hopefully we will see some more big hitters soon.

You lot should just get a room and have at it . I have Ultimate and Plus extra. There's tonnes of games on each service. I think some of you are a little angry about the ABK deal. I personally don't think it's good for gaming, but you know what...it's gonna go through so just deal with it. If you can't play nice, go get a picture of Phil or Jim, whichever one you see with the halo and play with yourself

@ZuneTattooGuy Indie games and below average third party games. Games like Exoprimal go on there because confidence is low in it. Hogwarts castle, Elden ring, resident evil, etc won’t be there because companies know it destroys the value of that game by putting it on the service day one. Even Activision doesn’t like it but for them getting a fat paycheck took priority

The only games guaranteed to show up on Game pass day one are from the over 30+ studios Microsoft owns directly. The other day one releases range from indies to some AAA games. Because you picked three out of the air that didn't come to Gamepass doesn't mean every major studio hates the idea of Gamepass. Activision was run like a garbage dump and quite frankly what they considered a good idea is the opposite of what I would do. I am glad they are being bought out and don't get to make the big decisions anymore.

I bought Celeste on my Switch many years ago. I thought it was a ton of fun but actually never beat it. Seems like a good time to start it again, especially with achievements baked in.

Doesn't happen often but this batch (Celeste was already on GP) has nothing for me personal (maybe TOEM). Been playing some Masterchief collection campaigns so I'm good + FH5 is my go to chillax game.

I expected Far Cry 6 to be in there by now though.
