It's almost time for the release of Remnant 2! The game arrives for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S (along with PS5 and PC) next week on Tuesday, July 25th, and the early reviews have been impressive.

Something to keep in mind here is that nearly every review has been conducted using the PC version so far, so we're still waiting on Xbox specific impressions, but the actual game itself definitely seems to shaping up nicely.

Below, you can check out what a few outlets have had to say across the web:

God Is A Geek (9.5/10)

"Despite a few shortcomings, Remnant 2 remains one of the most creative, fascinating, and compelling games of the last few years and stands as a testament to what this developer can do when they aim to impress."

IGN (9/10)

"This is a triumphant sequel that doesn’t just reimagine the soulslike genre as a co-op looter-shooter, but absolutely nails that concept in nearly every way – including many that the original did not."

CGMagazine (8.5/10)

"Remnant 2 is an excellent successor to Remnant: From the Ashes. It manages to take everything that made From the Ashes a sleeper hit and expand and polish those features."

VideoGamer (8/10)

"Remnant 2 successfully evolves on its predecessor, isolating and expanding upon the best aspects to create a cohesive and challenging shooter experience, supplemented by stunningly designed environments and a unique story system. A cooperative game at heart, its single-player campaign takes a hit, but never enough to substantially detract from the game’s successes."

GameSpot (7/10)

"Remnant 2 is exactly what you want from a sequel, such is the way it expands and improves upon the first game's ideas. It's not likely to blow you away, but the core gameplay loop--built on rewarding combat, an ever-expanding repertoire of skills and abilities, and the randomness of its procedural generation--latches on and refuses to let go."

Polygon (Unfavourable)

"Don’t get me wrong, there’s a strong foundation at its core — but the cavalier way in which it borrows, both mechanically and aesthetically, from not only the Souls series but God of War, Control, and Returnal merely serves to remind me of all the more competent games I could be playing instead."

There are a few less-than-positive reviews mixed into the bunch, then, but otherwise Remnant 2 has been doing really well with the critics so far, racking up an 80 Metacritic score for the PC version at the time of writing.
